I grew up in Charleston, and the salt air and marsh views will always be part of who I am. After living away for 10 years, getting married, and having some babies, it was time to come home to the Lowcountry. We’ve happily made our home in West Ashley and are enjoying planting roots and finding our community.
My personal journey of motherhood began in 2011 with the birth of my son. I could have never predicted all the beautiful, strange, and joy filled moments that were to follow. In 2013 we welcomed our daughter, who was born at home.
The most important thing a woman can have as she navigates motherhood is support that empowers her—from the very beginning of pregnancy, through labor, and as she nurtures her child.
I became aware of this fact by experiencing the transformative nature of a supportive system in my own life. It became my desire to provide this to other women–to become a doula, to empower mothers by serving them.
